Jubilee Preparations

In Room 2 we have been working hard to have our classroom ready for our Jubilee later on this week. We made some stained glass window tile art which we showed off in assembly last Friday, and is now covering our windows making them all nice and bright. Here are a few of us with our tiles!

We also have finished our bookmark souvenirs. There will be 1 free bookmark for the first 40 grown-ups that visit Room 2 during the Jubilee. Be in quick to get one!

Speeches

On Friday 30th of August, Jonathan represented Room 2 on our school speech finals. He wrote a very informative speech about bullying. Today in assembly Jonathan was presented with a certificate to acknowledge his place in our finals, and here he is holding up his award. Congratulations Jonathan!

Our Jubilee Posters

In Room 2 we have been learning to create jubilee posters. This is a picture of us holding our pictures, with our beautiful smiles :)

Puppet Pals: The Girl who lived happily ever after

As part of our reading tumble, we have been learning to think quickly and use our imaginations by creating stories using an ipad app called 'Puppet Pals'. It's so much fun because we can use lots of different pictures and backgrounds to help us tell a story. It helps us to quickly come up with ideas and conversations without thinking too long before starting! Here is a story that Hala came up with all by himself.

Stage 5 Maths

In our Stage 5 maths group, we have been learning to solve multiplication problems by taking some off or putting some on (the 'compensation' strategy).

Here is a video of Gloria explaining how we have been doing this!

Thanks for helping us learn, Gloria!

Jubilee Bookmarks

In room 2 we are preparing for our 60th Jubilee and we are designing bookmarks to give away to visitors as souvenirs. Here is a picture of us working hard designing our bookmarks. If you are coming to our Jubilee you might be given one!

Kelston Girls' College Sports Visits

Over the past 4 weeks girls from Kelston Girls' College have been coming in to teach us some games.
Every Monday morning from 9:30 - 10:30 we have been in class teams and have been paired up with some of the visiting girls. We have been playing games like 'Pukana', 'Touch', and lots and lots of warm-up and fun activity games. Since today was our last day with them, some of us got special rewards (lollipops!)
Thank you Kelston Girls!

Trash to Fashion - Kelston Edition!

Miss Sharp is helping a group of students from KPS create some Trash to Fashion styled costumes for our Jubilee concert. Edwin in our class is a part of this group and here is his costume so far. We can't wait to see it finished!

Our Term 2 Visual Interpretation

In Term 2, we learned about poetry and visualising. Visualising is thinking about the pictures that we see in our heads (imagine) when someone describes something to us that we can't see.
We read the lyrics to the awesome Flight of the Conchords' (a New Zealand group!) charity song for children called "Feel Inside (And Stuff Like That). We really liked the way it uses a lot of language that puts pictures in our heads (called descriptive language, or imagery), and we decided to take the pictures out of our heads and draw them on pieces of paper. We drew pictures for every line of the song and then set the pictures to the music. We hope you enjoy it!

Henderson North School.

Hey Room 2, this is the class blog of a teacher friend of mine at Henderson North School. Their blog has reached 10,000 page views, that means 10,000 people have looked at it! Wow, they're really popular!
Check out their awesome blog and if you'd like, make suitable comments on their great work!

Their teacher, Mr Walker, used to be the teacher of our new student, Pakkad! Maybe Pakkad can teach us a few things about creating an effective classroom blog!
